Sky Racing’s form expert, TONY BRASSEL, checks out prospective winners after some super trials around NSW.

(4m, Snitzel – De Lightning Ridge. Trainer: Joe Pride)

Naturally brilliant mare – like both parents. Dad won the Oakleigh Plate and mum set the Randwick 1000m course record. Her C.V. of four wins from six starts speaks for itself and two top trials have her fully tuned. After winning a Warwick Farm heat, she led, then cruised in for second to another smart miss, BELLUCI BABE.

(2f, I Am Invincible – Champagne Cath. Trainer: Chris Waller)

Unraced and needs a new set of brake pads after James McDonald has jabbed the anchors on … Twice. Had her initial Rosehill heat won in January before heavy restraint right on the post. Then pulled her way down the running when second to DECISIVE MOVE on Tuesday. She went better than stablemate HEADLINER, placed behind eventual Golden Slipper winner STAY INSIDE.

(2f, Sooboog – Hard To Find. Trainers: Gerald Ryan and Sterling Alexiou)

Made her public debut when just off the placings in a 900m Rosehill heat. From a wide gate she parked eight lengths last, then showed a nifty gear change 250m out. Hardly pushed in the concluding stages, she’s at least up to snaring a provincial maiden in the near future.

(2c, Pierro – Lanikai. Trainer: Chris Waller)

Rolled at this week’s Rosehill trials but untested looking very poised and competitive. He’s a two-start veteran and beat the promising PORT LOUIS upon debut at Kensington last month. A little freshen-up and this trial suggests a bold Queensland campaign is in the offing.

(5g, Dansili – Could It Be. Trainer: Chris Waller)

Big-blazed import, winner of two from six Down Under. He’s an ex-English galloper possibly best suited when there’s give in the ground. Trialled for the second time this prep when he speared between runners in a 1050m Rosehill heat. Suited to racing around this time of the season when tracks tend to soften up.

(7g, Le Havre – Capitelli. Trainer: Tim Donnelly)

Interesting galloper having been foaled in France, won on debut at Wagga in 2019 and placed in a 2019 Randwick TAB Highway race. And that’s his story! The big guy has only raced twice and will be first-up after more than two years off. In top country stable and this third suggested he’s still super competitive.

(2c, Snitzel – Royal Tithe. Trainer: Gary Portelli)

Unraced youngster but well-versed in proceedings courtesy of three barrier trials. Most recent was Tuesday’s hit-out at Rosehill when he drifted last at the 600m then rushed through the field – under minimal pressure. By one of our great sires, he’s a racy fellow from a Queensland G3 winner.

(4g, Zoffany – Mzyoon. Trainer: Chris Waller)

Has started at double figures when unplaced in two Aussie starts mid-summer. Two-time winner in the UK and he’s fully acclimatized judging by his effort at Rosehill this week. Having his first trial of the campaign, he cruised around in the ruck and looked very willing under restraint. Can soon break the duck Down Under.
