COMRADE ROSA

(2f, Capitalist – No Looking Back. Trainer: John O’Shea)

Encountered a mere three rivals when trialling for the first time last Monday. Still impressed in powering home and, of course, his sire is ultra-exciting. Mum was no slouch either – winner of the 2013 Listed Carrington Stakes (1100), she was by a Blue Diamond winner (REDOUTE’S CHOICE) from a Magic Millions winner (MIRROR MIRROR).

EMINENCIA

(3f, I Am Invincible– Emissary. Trainer: Brad Widdup)

Bred to a blend of speed and stamina being by the outstanding sire. Her grand-dam (HEART RULER) and great-granddam (BORN TO BE QUEEN) both won the G1 AJC Metropolitan (2600m). Couldn’t go slow enough early when extremely impressive scoring at Hawkesbury last Monday.

JETFOIL

(2g, Snitzel – Travessia. Trainer: Helen Page)

Brother to Victorian filly SAFE PASSAGE, the winner of three from seven. This version was stepping out for her debut trial when a fast-finishing third at the Gold Coast last Monday. Hardly subjected to maximum pressure and will benefit immensely from the experience.

KING OF HASTINGS

(4g, Ilovethiscity – Handcut. Trainers: Anthony and Sam Freedman)

Class Victorian act wintering in Queensland and he’s thriving, judging by this trial performance. A soft second, he could have won the 1000m heat and boasts an excellent fresh record with three wins first or second-up. Has now trialled twice in Queensland following a Toowoomba trial hit-out on May 4.

LIME SODA

(2f, Spirit Of Boom – Limealicious. Trainers: Toby and Trent Edmonds)

Tall, unraced sister to former brilliant juvenile EF TROOP. Followed a debut third in a Gold Coast trial with this very smart win at the same track last Monday. Not as precocious as big brother but that could work in her favour as she’s clearly progressive.

NIKOHLI BEAGLE

(4g, Nicconi – Ballet Shoes. Trainer: Jarrod Austin)

Won races at Orange, Kembla and Nowra on the trot through the summer months. Subsequently beaten in a Warwick Farm TAB Highway then tipped out for a spell. That seems an inspired move, given his game late burst at the Hawkesbury heats. Ran third, galloping home as he liked.

RICH LISTER

(3f, Rich Enuff – Nothing Compares, Steve O’Dea and Matthew Hoysted)

Three-start veteran and went out on a winning note when landing an Ipswich maiden last January. Her distinctive blaze makes her an eye-catcher and so did the soft Doomben trial win last Tuesday. Tracked the pace before assuming control near the finish – under very little urgency.

VERONICA JANE

(2f, I Am Invincible – Different To. Trainer: John O’Shea)

Full sister to Kiwi filly MEDIA SENSATION, winner of the G1 NZ 1000 Guineas (1600m) in 2018. This one looked swish first time at the trials when she romped clear over the Hawkesbury 800m. Likely to have another barrier trial before first race start. Will be perfectly tuned.

WHEEL

(2c, Exceed And Excel – Circular. Trainer: James Cummings)

Mum was a Melbourne G3 winner and her son is primed to improve off a debut third at Newcastle last month. Never worse than second in the run when a slick Hawkesbury 800m heat winner earlier this week. He handled the opposition comfortably - Hugh Bowman motionless.
